@kagyu1 is an American plant breeder and preservationist. @kagyu1 has spent decades collecting and preserving heirloom and landrace cannabis genetics.

Before retiring and focusing his time and energy on the preservation of his vast collection of cannabis genetics, @kagyu1 was a professional plant breeder working for Northrup King breeding alfalfa. @kagyu1 has brought his experience from the commercial plant breeding industry both in terms of practical breeding experience and an understanding of the importance of the preservation and maintenance of heirloom and landrace germplasm.

@kagyu1 co-founded @coastalseeds which was dedicated from its inception to the preservation work that he has committed so much of his life to.

Commercially Coastal Seeds was best known for producing some of the best heirloom and (ex situ) landrace genetics available (right there with bodhi and snowhigh). Through his collaborations with other breeders like @mrbobhemphill and @hannahboldt and @bollywoodbam costal has helped to preserve numerous old heirloom lines (NL1, M10, BSHW) and landraces (Panama red, Burmese) and to make numerous hybrids between these classic lines and modern elite clone-onlys available.

@kagyu1 continues this work breeding and preserving heirloom and landrace genetics. When talking about old school cannabis breeders who’ve put in decades of work with this plant we have to include Kagyu.
